Tips and Hints
- Use a cordless doorbell as as portable call or signal bell. See how to make one at ehow.com. Search for "Cordless Signal Bell" and the article with pictures should pop up.
- Cut a vinyl tablecloth into 4 pieces. Slip one piece under the shoulders of anyone who needs to be pulled up in bed. Put the shiny side against the bed, grab the person under their arms and pull. It makes the weight easier to move.
- A small electric fan or hairdryer set on "cool" can do wonders for skin breakdowns. Often it's a question of dampness in the skin folds or the "down below." Men are susceptible too. Heat can add to the problems.
Many people with disabilities don't move around enough to "air" everything. Let technology help. Keep your skin clean and moisturized but dry! There is a difference.
You may fill a bit silly fanning your bottom but, trust me, you won't regret it.
